Measurement for Improvement Training

The measurement of improvement training is all about how we can answer the second part question from the Model for Improvement: “How do we know that our change is an improvement?”. There are three levels of training providing tools, guidance, and resources to help you collate the right information to answer this question.
Level 1: An Introduction to Measurement for Improvement

This is the third module of the modular training that we provide on a quarterly basis. We advise that everyone attends this module as a foundation before taking the advanced levels of the measurement for improvement training. The following topics will be covered:

  • Using data for storytelling and engagement
     
  • Developing Data Collection Plans
     
  • Understanding Variation
     
  • Introduction to Run charts
Level 2: Using SPC Charts to Understand Variation

This workshop looks at another tool commonly used to help teams understand variation. Delegates are encouraged to bring their own datasets. The following topics will be covered:

  • Introduction to SPC charts
     
  • Spotting signals and what to do with them
     
  • Criteria for recalculating control limits
     
  • Workshop: Putting your data into a chart
Level 3: Creating SPC charts (Advanced)

This advanced level is designed for those who are required to create SPC charts for reporting purposes. It will walk you through the SPC guidance document and includes a tutorial on how to use SPC templates.

  • Case studies: When to take action (recalculating dilemmas)
